Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 March 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Countdown ("the App"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Countdown is a free, open-source macOS menu bar application that displays a floating countdown timer for your upcoming Google Calendar events. The source code is available under the GNU General Public Licence v3.0 at github.com/tavva/countdown.
3. Google Account Integration
The App requires a Google account to access your Google Calendar data. By connecting your account, you authorise Countdown to read your calendar events as described in our Privacy Policy. The App uses Google's OAuth 2.0 authentication with PKCE and only requests read-only access.
4. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your Google account credentials
- Ensuring your use of the App complies with applicable laws and Google's Terms of Service
- Any activity that occurs through your connected account
5. Intellectual Property
Countdown is released under the GNU General Public Licence v3.0. You are free to use, modify, and distribute the software in accordance with that licence.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that the information provided will be accurate or reliable.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developers of Countdown shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, arising from your use of the App.
8. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by disconnecting your Google account and uninstalling the application. No notice is required.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
